Pilot for mobile shore-based power on hydrogen with Cargow at Steinweg

Source: Port of Rotterdam On the site of C. Steinweg – Handelsveem B.V. (Steinweg) Beatrix terminal in Eemhaven area near Rotterdam, a pilot project with a mobile facility for shore-based power on hydrogen for Cargow’s MPP (Multi purpose) vessels arriving twice a week is set to begin in late 2022. The tendering process starts in February. The pilot is meant to intensify the use of shore-based power in the port and is part of a partnership between the Municipality of Rotterdam and the Port of Rotterdam Authority. The collaboration began in December 2019, when a pilot was launched at Parkkade for supplying small sea-going vessels with electricity from the quay, or ‘shore-based power’ as it is called. Thanks to this method, the crew will no longer need to run the on-board diesel generators, resulting in reduced air pollution and noise. Mobile shore-based power During the pilot, several marketable concepts were put through real-world tests over a five-month period. Power consumption data was collected, and emissions and sound levels were measured. The pilot showed it is technically feasible to supply sea-going vessels with shore-based power using mobile concepts. The findings are being used to develop a permanent connection at Lloydkade as

Airports & Airlines Welcome New EU Council Recommendation on Travel Into the EU

Source: IATA ACI EUROPE (Airports Council International) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) welcomed the adoption today of an EU Council Recommendation for external travellers coming into the EU and called for further action to help re-start air connectivity. The new regime aligns with the Recommendation already adopted in January regarding intra-EU travel, and thus further strengthens the principle of travel criteria based on travellers’ personal health status rather than on the epidemiological situation of the country or area of departure. Airports and airlines both pointed to the body of evidence supporting this approach, with unequivocal guidance from the World Health Organisation along wth independent third party research showing that travel restrictions have little or no impact on epidemiological spread. The Recommendation adopted today includes the criteria that: EU States should accept all travellers fully vaccinated with EU approved vaccines without any restrictions or conditions. EU States should accept all travellers fully vaccinated with other WHO listed vaccines and recovered travellers either without any restrictions / conditions or only with the requirement of a negative pre-departure PCR test. EU States could also fully accept fully vaccinated travellers not holding a valid EU DCC or equivalent, subject to a negative pre-departure PCR test. While the Recommendation
